Keep Demolition Debris Contained During Tear-Outs

Demolition projects can create bulky debris quickly. A dedicated bin gives you one place to load approved material during tear-outs, flooring removal, bathroom demolition, and other interior work.

Junk It® provides demolition waste bins for homeowners, contractors, property managers, and renovation crews. If your project involves large amounts of concrete, brick, soil, asphalt, roofing, or clean fill, contact Junk It® before booking so the right bin type of construction dumpster rentals can be confirmed.

Demolition Waste Bin Sizes

Demolition debris can be heavier than it looks. Drywall, wood, cabinets, and trim may be manageable in a larger bin, but denser materials on your job site add weight quickly.

Junk It® offers a range of dumpster sizes for tear-outs, demolition debris, remodels, garage demolition, flooring removal, small structure removal, and property improvement projects. Available sizes and pricing may vary by postal code.

Bin Size Dimensions Capacity (Pick-Up Loads) Ideal Use
8 Yard Dumpster 12’ x 5.5’ x 3.5’ 🛻 3–3.5 loads Small tear-outs, flooring removal, cabinets, and limited demolition debris
10 Yard Dumpster 12’ x 6’ x 4’ 🛻 4 loads Bathroom demolition, cabinet removal, flooring, and smaller interior tear-outs
14 Yard Dumpster 12’ x 7’ x 4.5’ 🛻 5.5 loads Kitchen tear-outs, drywall, flooring, trim, and medium demolition projects
20 Yard Dumpster 14’ x 8’ x 8’ 🛻 8 loads Basement tear-outs, larger interior demolition, and bulky mixed debris
30 Yard Dumpster 15’ x 8’ x 8’ 🛻 12 loads Large remodels, commercial interior tear-outs, and high-volume demolition debris
40 Yard Dumpster 20’ x 8’ x 8’ 🛻 16 loads Major interior demolition, large property projects, and high-volume debris
*Available bin sizes may vary by location. Check pricing and availability in your area.
Heavy debris like plaster, tile, mortar beds, and cast iron can put a bin over the included 1,000 kg allowance. For dense demolition material, choose a smaller bin or ask Junk It® about weight before booking.

What Demolition Waste Bins Are Used For

Demolition waste bins provide one place to collect approved debris during tear-outs and removal work. The materials generated depend on the area being demolished and the scope of the project.

Bathroom Gut Jobs

Bathroom demolition can create a heavy load even when the room is small. Tile, mortar, vanities, and cast iron tubs can add weight quickly, so many bathroom tear-outs are best matched with a smaller bin.

Common materials include:

  • Vanities and sinks
  • Toilets
  • Bathtubs and shower surrounds
  • Tile, mortar, and underlayment
  • Drywall, trim, and light fixtures

Kitchen Tear-Outs

Kitchen demolition often includes bulky items that take up space quickly. A bin helps keep removed cabinets, counters, flooring, and fixtures contained while the room is cleared.

Common materials include:

  • Cabinets and shelving
  • Countertops
  • Flooring and underlayment
  • Drywall, plaster, and trim
  • Sinks, fixtures, and non-hazardous tear-out material

Basement and Interior Demolition

Basement tear-outs and interior demolition projects can involve a mix of drywall, wood, flooring, doors, built-ins, and older finish materials. These jobs can vary a lot depending on the age of the property and how much is being removed.

Common materials include:

  • Drywall and plaster
  • Wood framing scraps
  • Doors, trim, and moulding
  • Flooring and underlayment
  • Built-ins, shelving, and interior fixtures

Exterior Demolition Projects

Garage, shed, and small structure removal can create a mix of wood, roofing material, siding, framing, doors, and general demolition debris. If concrete pads, brick, soil, or asphalt are involved, those materials may need a separate bin or special handling.

Common materials include:

  • Wood framing and sheathing
  • Doors, trim, and panels
  • Siding and exterior material
  • Roofing debris where accepted
  • Approved non-hazardous demolition material

Commercial and Multi-Room Tear-Outs

Commercial interiors, rental units, offices, and larger remodels can create high volumes of demolition debris. These projects may need a larger bin or multiple swaps depending on the amount of material being removed.

Common materials include:

  • Interior partitions
  • Flooring and ceiling material
  • Shelving, counters, and fixtures
  • Doors, trim, and built-ins
  • Approved non-hazardous commercial tear-out debris

Projects focused more on remodelling than removal may be better suited to renovation dumpster rentals.

Why Rent a Bin Before Demolition Starts?

Demolition becomes harder to manage when removed material begins piling up around the work area. Having a bin delivered before tear-out starts gives the crew a designated loading point from the beginning of the project.

Materials That Require Special Handling

Some demolition materials cannot go into a standard demolition waste bin. Others can be accepted, but may affect bin size, loading, weight, or disposal requirements.

Possible Asbestos Materials

Asbestos is one of the most important issues to check before demolition begins. Homes built or renovated before about 1990 may contain asbestos in plaster, drywall joint compound, vinyl floor tile, popcorn ceilings, vermiculite insulation, older adhesives, and other building materials.
Asbestos cannot be confirmed by appearance alone. If there is any concern, have the material tested by a qualified professional before tear-out work starts. Asbestos-containing waste is not accepted in Junk It® demolition bins.

Concrete, Brick, Soil, and Clean Fill

Concrete, soil, brick, gravel, stone, sand, and clean fill require separate handling. Use a dedicated soil and concrete dumpster rental rather than mixing these materials with general demolition debris.

Dense Demolition Materials

Some demolition debris is accepted but can become very heavy. Plaster and lath, ceramic tile with mortar beds, cast iron tubs, and similar dense materials may require a smaller bin or weight guidance before booking.

Roofing, Siding, and Exterior Materials

Roofing, siding, sheathing, and exterior demolition debris may be accepted depending on the material and project type. Large roofing tear-offs may be better suited to roofing shingle bin rentals, especially when shingles make up most of the load.

Hazardous Materials

Paint, chemicals, solvents, fuels, oils, asbestos, propane tanks, and other hazardous or toxic materials are not accepted in standard demolition bins.

Batteries, Bulbs, and Electronics Requiring Special Handling

Batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and certain electronics require appropriate recycling or disposal and should not be placed in a demolition bin.

Food and Biohazardous Waste

Food, organic waste, medical waste, sharps, and other biohazardous materials are not accepted.

Freon Appliances and Mechanical Equipment

Fridges, freezers, air conditioners, and other Freon-containing items require special handling. Contact Junk It® before booking if these items are part of your cleanup.

Demolition Waste Bin Delivery and Placement

Where you place your bin can affect how easily debris moves out of the work area. Before delivery, choose an accessible location that keeps the bin within practical reach of the tear-out.

Clear Access

Make room for the delivery truck before the bin arrives. Remove parked vehicles, trailers, equipment, and loose materials that could block access to the placement area.

Practical Placement

Think about how debris will move from the demolition area to the bin. A driveway or private loading area is usually the simplest option when space allows.
Some demolition jobs may need the bin placed on the street. Street placement often requires a city road occupancy permit. The homeowner, contractor, or project manager is typically responsible for confirming and arranging any required permit before delivery.

Protective Boards

Protective boards are used when the bin is placed to help limit direct contact with paved driveways and other suitable surfaces.

Contactless Delivery

If the placement area is accessible and your instructions provide enough detail, you do not need to be on-site when the demolition bin arrives.

Our Process

Booking a demolition waste bin with Junk It® is easy. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Choose Your Size & Book Online

Estimate the amount and type of demolition debris your project will generate, choose your bin, enter your postal code, and book online to save $15. You can also call 1-866-JUNK-IT-NOW if you need assistance.

Step 2: Project-Friendly Delivery

Junk It® delivers your bin using protective boards to help reduce direct contact with paved surfaces. Same-day dumpster rental or next-day delivery may be available depending on your location and schedule.

Step 3: Load Debris During the Tear-Out

Load approved demolition debris into the bin as cabinets, flooring, drywall, trim, fixtures, and other materials are removed. Keeping the bin on-site allows cleanup to happen alongside the demolition work.

Step 4: Schedule Pickups, Swaps and Changes

When the rental period ends, Junk It® picks up the bin automatically. You do not need to call or be on-site for pickup.

If the bin fills before the work is done, contact Junk It® by phone, text, or email to request a swap: the full bin is picked up, and an empty bin is delivered where available.

You can also ask about extending your rental or arranging an early pickup. Additional rental time or swaps may affect the final cost depending on your location, schedule, and service needs.

FAQs

Drywall can usually go in a demolition waste bin if it is accepted in your service area and is not contaminated with restricted material. Plaster may also be accepted, but it is heavier than many people expect, especially when mixed with lath.

Concrete requires separate handling and should not be mixed with general demolition debris. Review soil and concrete dumpster rentals if your project involves concrete, brick, soil, gravel, stone, sand, or other heavy clean-fill materials.

Stop before tearing out the material. Homes built or renovated before about 1990 may contain asbestos in plaster, drywall joint compound, vinyl floor tile, popcorn ceilings, vermiculite insulation, adhesives, and other materials. Have suspect material tested by a qualified professional.

The two can overlap, but demolition waste generally comes from removing existing materials during tear-outs. Construction debris can include a broader mix of scraps and waste generated while building, repairing, or renovating. Learn more about construction debris bin rentals.

Yes. A demolition waste bin can be useful when a renovation involves substantial tear-out work. For projects focused more broadly on remodelling and home improvement debris, review our renovation dumpster rentals.

The appropriate size depends on the scope of the tear-out, the volume and weight of the material, and the available placement space. Smaller projects may suit a 10- or 14-yard dumpster, while larger interior demolition projects may require a 20- or 30-yard option. Dense material may require a smaller bin because of weight.

Having the bin delivered before tear-out work begins gives you a designated place to load approved debris as it is removed. This can reduce loose material accumulating around the work area and simplify cleanup throughout the project.

Yes. Junk It® works with contractors, restoration companies, property managers, landlords, and other commercial customers who need bins for repeat projects. Commercial billing is available for eligible customers.

No. If the placement area is accessible and your instructions are clear, Junk It® can complete contactless delivery. Scheduled pickup is automatic at the end of the rental period, so you do not need to be on-site.

Demolition waste bin rentals start from $369 for an 8-yard bin. Your final price depends on your postal code, bin size, material type, and local disposal requirements.

Your rental includes 1,000 kg of accepted material. If the loaded bin exceeds the included allowance, overage charges may apply.

Heavy materials like plaster, tile, mortar, cast iron, brick, concrete, soil, and stone can add weight quickly, so ask about weight before booking if your demolition project includes dense debris.

Junk It is an amazing group of people. Each and every time I have contacted them, they have showed up on time and with a great personality. My company de-clutters, organizes, and renovates. I have either called on Junk It to pick up clutter from a client’s home on a specific day or a bin has been dropped for me to fill and have removed at a later date. De-Clutter2clean is all about the environment. The great feature about Junk It is once they remove your unwanted clutter it is then taken to be sorted and recycled. De-Clutter2clean has been using Junk It for the pass five (5) years and will continue to use them as my sort for removing my client’s clutter. Great job!

I was referred to JuNK-iT by a very good friend. I used their services at my home during a move. The thing that I found amazing with JuNK-iT was how friendly the booking and on-site staff were. A huge contrast to a lot of other junk removal and Bin companies. The pricing was up front, and accessible, no hidden costs! I was so impressed with my at home services that I used them at my workplace for yard clean-up on more than one occasion. On every visit the crew were always polite, and fast! Even the billing and invoicing was as quoted….what more could I ask. I would and do recommend them to anyone needed Junk removal.
