Eco-Friendly Gadgets and Recycled Junk

Hey everyone. Came across this eco-friendly phone the other day called the Samsung Blue Earth.

Samsung Blue EarthThis mobile phone is solar powered and the plastics are made out of recycled water bottles. It even has a built-in pedometer that shows you how much CO2 emissions you saved by walking. Practically all aspects of the phone was made with going green in mind.

A lot of junk we pick up is recycled and is used in products. For example, drywall that we recycle can be made into new drywall or used as a green soil conditioner. We feel good about picking up junk that ends up being recycled and used in new products. Eco-friendly junk removal is a big part of what we do at Junk It!.

Fall Landscaping Tips

Winter. There I said it. It’s coming and as much as we all want to deny the fact that we will be freezing soon and experiencing some snow fall, it’s time to take care of our gardens before it’s too late. That’s right. It’s mulching and pruning time. Add about a one to two inch layer of organic mulch, covering the roots of your plants. It helps retain moisture as well as regulates the temperature of the soil. As far as pruning goes, make sure to cut back the branches that appear dead and the ones that aren’t budding anymore. Make a small cut on the underneath of the branch to prevent breaking. Then cut the top half, making a clean cut which will help it heal evenly and promote growth. Make sure to wear protective goggles and gloves to be safe. Cleaning up your garden can result in a lot of debris that needs to be removed. Sounds like a job for JuNK iT! Call us at 416-531-5865

Water Footprint

What is a water footprint?

People use lots of water for drinking, cooking and washing, but even more for producing things such as food, paper, cotton clothes, etc. The water footprint is an indicator of water use that looks at both direct and indirect water use of a consumer or producer. The water footprint of an individual, community or business is defined as the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce the goods and services consumed by the individual or community or produced by the business.

Pint of Beer

Now there are even more reasons to feel guilty about drinking beer. It takes 75 litres of water to produce one 250 ml glass of beer. That is amazing.
